I just had a 700R4 installed in my 65 SWB. Used a corvette converter 2200 stall, nice hard shift from 1st to 2nd. Little trick to crossmember, if you currently have a manual, you can take the crossmember used for the emergency brake, cut the rivets, flip the crossmember over, cut an access hole in center, weld a plate above hole for trans mount bolt, be careful to keep your driveshaft centered. By flipping the member over your emergency brake will still work. You will need to drill new mounting holes in the frame. The shift linkage if using a column selector is a whole other story, mine came from a mid 80's monte had to make a bracket to attach it to the frame, the rod had to be cut, shortened, twisted and rewelded. Took a lot of modifications to make it work, the 700 has a longer throw, than a 350 or 400. Also a tilt column out of a 72 van works very well with very little modification and the key switch is still located in the dash, the wiring harness plugs right in. Don't forget the drive shaft, I was lucky and able to find one that didn't need to be cut, sorry not sure what it came out of had several to pick from.
