internally regulated alternator

Haven't written for a while. Been enjoying my 64 half ton chevy truck rebuild. My question is, if I want to upgrade to an internally regulated alternator, do I hook up the two wires to the alternator in a different manner, or do I hook them back up the same. I know that I hook the one wire from the battery post on the alternator, to the positive post on the battery. The other two wires, well, I'm not sure. Can u help me, with a detailed explanation. I'm not very good with electrical stuff, so any info would help. I know it probably is an easy fix, but unfortunately, not for me. Thanks in advance.

All you do is order Part # 52-896 (1963-72) Alternator Conversion Kit from our hosts here at ChevyDuty. It's a neat harness that makes the conversion a 1/2 hour job. You can't go wrong for the price.

I liked it so much I used it on a 72 Chevelle I once owned...

Dave, thanks for the info on the Chevy Duty alternator conversion kit. I looked it up and it seems that it consists of a plug that goes over the regulator plug, capping it off from further use, and it has a plug-in that adapts the original plug in from the old alternator onto the new style plug into a newer alternator. If so, I might just improvise, but if it is more complicated than that, I can always order the part. Thanks for your help.

The cap has the appropriate jumpers in it from the voltage regulator harness.

Common !!! For $20 you don't even need to THINK about it !
It is literally plug and play and makes the conversion look tidy under the hood...

Go with the adapter, it's just way too easy...
