I have one that is a 1968 and this one was in a 1968 truck of the same ilk.
However, mine does not have the "Chevrolet" logo on the valve cover, etc?
My carb is different too.

292 C.I.D. Thinwall L6

Yep ~ that's it ! .

I need the hose to aircleaner thing hanging got my '69....

What are you going to do with this engine ? .

By The Way ~

That carby is a Rochester 'B' series , used up to 1967 on 292's , in '68 they went to the Rochester Monojet .

Thanks... :)

Ive got the mono on my other 68.
One is earlier and one latter.

Im going to over-haul it and "uncork it", as some of you fellas say.
I wonder if anyone here has tried FI on one of these instead of the massive quadro-jet 4bbl carb and custom intake/exhaust?
I dont want to spend too much $.

292 Hop Up

Removing the muffler or using a free flow , will help .

FI is very $ intensive , you can put multi carburation on it much cheaper ~ two is easiest , as the head has three ports you can run three carbys .

Anything with multiple carbys will beat the performance of a single Q-Jet or 2 BBl in the middle ! .

Just remember : this engine , by design , is a long stroke so it doesn't like to be wound up like a V-8 ! (or even a 230/250) if you insist on revving the snot out of it , it'll blow in short order - these 292's are true truck engines and like low RPM , high torque application .

Yupp, I am aware of that and plan to use a tuned cam for it as well.
Torque is what its for... :)
Ive got my tach set on 3K, lol.
45-50mph is running around 2500 or better rpm's and thats where I currently run her with 16 inch wheels and a 4.70 posi re.
After market headers coming for sure, but I will keep the muffler on, lol.

Im just looking at different fuel options other than the stock.

TY

Exhausting

Few people realize how sweet an un corked L6 GM engine sounds ~ as long as you run the exhaust pipe all the way back , it'll sound nice and musical in tone ~ I never got any tickets, even when hauling loads up hill in Bel Aire....

You can always add a glass pack later on .

Oops ~

Sorry Mitch ;

I just assumed since you want to go faster , you know  .

As I said before : you can run it open piped as long as the pipe isn't short and it'll run great & sound good too .
