Jaguar IFS

Has anyone taken out a jaguar IFS just wondering how hard is it or not going to be since will not be using any air tools sockets and wrenching .old school in the bone yard
Also I have no plans on power steering will this be an issue with a front IFS that has it??

I guess you must have stumped the experts here!
Not that I would ever want to put on a jaguar front end, but I of course was interested to see how this would work.
Sometimes you just have to dive in and go for it.

Funny, I read Jaguar IRS here, not IFS. Power steering box without the pump probably not going to work correctly. Think about when you steer a PS car with the engine not running.

Doing my homework tons of info also Phil has been giving me a ton of info on installation hope he post pics of his truck and IFS seems to be way cheaper than mustang II front end so once I get into it I will post some pics tip than back to more sanding on fenders.

Here's a '49 GMC with a Jag IFS and IRS (getting metal work done)

A photo of the IFS - bolted in using Jag rubber mounts

Another photo of the IFS- no springs, bags coming and it sitting on a piece of all-thread at factory Jag XJ6 ride height

And if you're confused between IFS and IRS, here's a Jag IRS in that same truck-

Probably going to not use the Jag sheetmetal cage and will suspend the IRS center section directly between the frame sides. 3.54 with limited slip, inboard brakes. IRS is on trailing arms with bags (but not yet) On all-thread at the stock Jag height. Should be a couple inches off the ground with the bags aired out. No c-notch. Wheels clear bed sides, so I'm not planning a tub, but the tires are line on line with the fender lip, so I need to start planning on how to widen the fenders.

Just for fun here's the 58? Caddy Eldorado steering wheel. Floor is still a little rough - starting to fab firewall doghouse and trans cover

Robert -Here's some photos of how it is installed in the truck.

The front mounts are hung off a crossbar that pick up the Jag 'doughnuts' in the frame horn.

The cross bar bolts on to the front frame horns- keep in mind this is just mocked-up so there will be three grade 8 bolts holding the plate the frame

This is the top of the spring pocket in the cross-member on the driver's side. You can see the rear mount with three bolts to the frame rail on the left side of the photo

Please do LS3 we all need the ideas on options I myself removed fuel spout out of my cab too.

Everything is just in the mock-up stage so don't know what I'm going to do for a fuel tank yet. Welded up the gas tank hole in the cab, so I guess I'm committed to putting it in back of the rear axle somehow.

I'd like to keep the utility of bed of the truck and the idea of a filler cap in the bed floor isn't what I want. I'd like to keep the fender clean too, but there's some very slick gas caps in rear fenders out there.

My preference is put the cap under a flip down license plate in the rear roll pan. I have a junk 67/68 Camaro tank where the filler neck looks about right so I think I'll try that first. If it works, they are only about $100 at the SoCal here. The downside is I'll have to bend over quite a bit to put gas in it -oh well.

The wheels are Boss and 18" and the tires are BFG - the Jag takes the Chevy bolt pattern and a Ford lug nut. The tires come within a half inch of the bed in the back and are going to rub the fender - so I'm looking for ways to get more clearance. Narrowing the Jag IRS and tubbing the inside of the bed is a lot of work. Widening steel fenders is spendy. The 3" wider fiberglass fenders are too wide.

Picking up a jag ifs so question is I have a 1972 k5 blazer 6 lug rear end in truck and now want to convert to 5 lug so I can rotate tires is this an easy conversion?

I didn't buy the I F S due to a cut arm when they cut the horns off they cut deep into the lower arm so I passed it up but the guy was ok with the fact it was cut said no big deal he would just weld it up.no thanks
