Leaf Springs

I have read some postings about removing a leaf or two from each spring will lower the truck.

My springs have 8 leafs, now 7. Today I removed 1 leaf from each of the rear springs and used new #8 center bolts. Tomorrow I plan on doing the same for the front.

I just noticed the front axle is on the bottom of the leaf springs and I understand how removing a leaf will lower the front. Since the rear axle sits on top of the spring and the leaf being removed is on the bottom, how does this lower the rear and will it come down the same distance as the front?

Removing a leaf from the front (axle under spring) will lower the front some amount because the remaining springs are not as "stiff" as original therefore the front will "sag" a little and another 1/4" because of the thickness of the leaf removed.

Removing a leaf from the rear (axle over spring) will lower the rear some amount because the remaining springs are not as "stiff" as original therefore the rear will "sag" a little.
