In an attempt to finish up under the dash, I installed my radio and speaker wires/speaker. I love the way they left enough space to fish wires up and over to the back, and through, down and into the door cavity for each door!
What fun!
You would think the beat up speaker wouldn't sound very good from behind the seat, but oh yes it does! :cool:
I ran wires to the door cavities and will install those speakers later... after I get it rolling... years from now... :rolleyes:

Looking great Paul!!! I still am just rolling on the nice sound of the 228 on straight pipe;)

Maybe some day I will put in some music. But lately when driving it around with all the windows down, vents open, and cowl open, I would have to have a pretty nice stereo to be able to hear it.

With the weather lately, I need all those things down/open!!!
 
The radio will be more for when I'm parked at my mom and dad's and I'm throwing the football around listening to how the Chiefs are beating yet another team. :)

I need to probably rebuild my carb before I can enjoy listening to that 228 again. Tried starting it once I got it all back together, but no luck.

Really digging this build. Gotta show it to my buddy... he's a huge KC fan, too. Though I don't hold it against him. Hahahaha!!!

That sounds like a great day to me! If your carb is a zenith they are pretty easy. I had mine apart dozens of times when I was having that fuel issue. That turned out to be that crazy built in filter thing. Shouldn't be a big deal for you Paul!

The seat looks good too .

I have speakers underneath my bench seat courtesy of the DPO , plus one on the dashboard that's beginning to buzz a bit ~ I think I'll try some kick panel speakers next .

If you soak that carby a bit before taking the air horn off , you prolly won't even need a gasket kit for it....

We haven't had much to cheer about, so we haven't been as bad as we otherwise could be. :D

In fact, the Chiefs kinda followed my trucks progress. My truck could run, but wouldn't go anywhere. I took it apart, they fell apart. (Edwards as head coach.) Made some progress finally, so did they. It's been slowly coming back together, so are they. I really need to get this thing rolling. So do they~ :rolleyes:

Nate, I'm assuming I need to soak it in kerosene? For quite a while?
Thanks for that! (I was thinking rebuild kit, but it's probably just varnished up inside since it's gone l-o-n-g periods without starting.) Once I get it to run, I'll be starting it much more often, just to keep the battery up from me listening to the radio! :p

Any young pup who looks at the radio will probably think it's an original. It has a cassette player!!! WTH is THAT?!?! :D
 
Ha!! I love it. My buddy is gonna get an even bigger kick outtta this when he reads it now. And, knowing him as well as I do, after he reads your "parallel theory" he'll probably offer to move in and help you with your truck. There's nothing more he'd like to see than the Chiefs to become champs. And, all kidding aside, that is exaclty what your truck is gonna be when you're done. Well done.

Thanks! Well, hopefully it will look good from a distance, anyway!

Right now I am replacing the siding. I put wood siding on, which the huge colony of termites truly loved. Termites are under control, so this time I'll use masonite siding. They don't seem to like that as much. (Good thing I framed it and trimmed it completely in treated.) Seems they kinda liked the wafer board sheathing as well...
Gotta get this done so I can get back to MY TRUCK!!!!
 
Old Gaskets

Kerosine works O.K., I use gasoline in a can *just* big enough to fit the carby in...

A day should do it , the gaskets will soak up the fuel and expand & stop sticking .

I have termites too ~ I hope my 1923 house doesn't collapse ! they NEVER SLEEP .
