Turns out it was the friggin' distributer cap and rotor. The center contact was completely burnt away and the rotor had all kinds of misfire "tarnish" on it. Back to normal. I cleaned out the EGR valve as well. (could they have stuck that any further back under any more crap if they tried???) This perfectly illustrates why I LOVE Chevy products! I have no IDEA how this thing kept running! The worst thing was having our 100 year old waterline to our house give up the ghost right after I got through working on my Blazer! I had to dig it out and replace it. 40 feet of line at (mostly) 3 feet deep. Thank God the weather held. It's WAY too cold for that now!
Hey Zig ~ ...If that JEEP has a stick shift you'd better get busy and pressure bleed the hydraulic clucth as the slave cylinder isn't (it's a do-nut thing) and worse yet , it's inside the bell housing so when it fails from old dirty fluid (notice I didn't say ' if ') you'll need to drop the entire transmission , think of how much fun THAT will be in the snow..... I had lotsa fun to-day , I spent the entire day with wrenches , working on my brother's old Mercedes , he's STILL not de-greased it from the oil leak I foxed a month ago so it was really messy (ann undercar work) but I got a lot done and he's happy . I'm happy too as I have not been able to do much work in the last couple years . Tomorrow it's off to the junkyards , I've got _FOUR_ lined up and hope to find some good stuff .
