Just as a note the 235 block has gm stamped in it and I wonder if there is any difference between that and a chev block

    If you have a 235 c.i. engine, it's a Chevy motor. I believe the GMG engine has a 228 c.i. displacement.

Bilbo: tell him how much better my 228 sounds than your 235 does. ;)

engine block and the casting number is 3738307 which I checked out to be a 1958 235 cu inch but with the gm stamped on the block I wondered if there was any difference

    HuH? What'd you say?

Yeah, I thought Bill's 228 was considerably quieter than my 235... Lifter noise from mine.

Bill, I spent another 2 1/2 hours today and finished my Trique Latch installation. They work really well. Thanks, Russ, (ol' chebby)

Thanks, Bill Hanlon, for the help. Really appreciate the second pair of hands, and good company.

Follow the instructions. They are one of the few aftermarket kits that actually fit and work With little to NO modifying.

We (Bilbo and me) followed the instructions and did pretty well. Only thing that we did wrong (it was my fault) was mounting the right side striker on the left door. The instructions did not indicate which side was which and I tried to reason it out based on one side of the striker plate is curved and I assumed the curved side of the striker should line up with the curved edge of the door. Wrong!

Russ: How do I order a set from you? 52 GMC 3/4 ton.

    Engine Identification

Those are CASTED not stamped and yes , there's a HUGE and important difference ! .

Casted # & letters are put in when the part is casted before any machining .

Stamped (like near the dizzy) numbers & letters go on after the part is completely manufactured .

GM is The General Motors Corporation , parent owner of the CHEVROLET and GMC Divisions .

No possibility that 235 has anything to do with GMC .

The road draft tube look interesting .

Don't EVER let that starter out of your sight ! rebuilders will *instantly* chisel off that unobatanium DELCO tag .

I like the knobs , especially the original bakelite one but , I'm not happy there's not manual choke and throttle... :p .

Paul's right... that really looks fantastic! Did you custom-fabricate the rear splash apron, or was it a stock option?

    Thanks for sharing!!

    slowly but surely

1- put the running board body cab seal and running boards on. I thought I would put welting between the running board apron and fender as well as between the cab and apron
2- got the front splash apron and bumper on but not to happy with the fit of the apron as it has a big gap on both edges
