my grandpa's old work truck

just thought i'd throw up some pics of my grandpa's 3/4 ton. this truck got me started into this whole deal. it doesn't look like much on the outside (there's rebar welded into the fenders, and yes, it's been painted with a brush, probably using house paint) but it's all original supposedly (maybe you guys can tell me for sure). and it WAS running when my grandpa gave it to my young cousin.:confused: of course, she had no idea what it was all about, and let it sit for i think it's been 8 or 9 years now, but thank god it's in new mexico. maybe someday, it'll be resurrected. anyway, here you go. i love this old junker.:D

Why did seeing the cement mixer setting next to this make me think of Nate and his fence?:rolleyes: Now I know how certain kinds of people end up with a yard full of cats (or dogs). I'd hate to see what my place would look like if I was independantly wealthy! I'd have so many of these trucks... Having an old truck like this and knowing about this web site- If only this had been available back when I was sixteen! (and a dad who didn't have to have it his way or no-way:( )
 
Man I envy you guys out west because of the shape of these trucks. If that truck sat here in tennessee for nine years you would have to replace the whole lower half sheetmetal on the truck, trust me that's what I'm doing now. A few wrinkles in the fenders,but that's an easy fix. Truck looks good.

You need to beg borrow or steal to get this truck. It sounds like the cousin who has control of it doesn't usnderstand that these old trucks need to be active to survive. Just convince your cousin that it would be in their best interest to let you have the truck. Or, whatever it takes!
 
How'd you know I hauled cement & Cinddr Blocks for my fence in my old '46 ? :D

I loaned out my cement mixer to my brother and he lost it when they foreclosed on his house.... :eek:

That's a nice typical South Western truck , used to be thousands of them all over the place , $75.00 and a can of gas and you were driving ;)

Lemme know where that one is and I'll bring tools , gas and a battery & tune , peak & tweak it on the spot and drive it back to Sunny Southern California :cool:

yeah, i wish SOMEONE would take care of it. obviously, my cousin isn't going to. she's a freshman in college, and she has other things to worry about, i guess. oh well, i'll keep tryin'!!:)

ha! my brother drives a ford. but i don't hold that against him. neither do i mind if anyone on here calls me brother. we all share a common bond, after all. :D

ps, i'm having a LOT of fun with my truck, and learning SO much from you guys!!! thanks!
