need a hub

Just had my 62 Fleetside in for brakes, the mechanic discovered that the right front hub wouldn't take any of the parts he ordered, it's totally different than the stock hub. Anyone out there know where I can get a stock hub really quick??? Please get back to me asap or email me directly at [email protected]. THANKS Mike
 
I am looking also because I seem to have misplaced one for my '64.
Chevy says they don't carry these back that far, although they do
still carry some stuff. The local parts house suggested some of the
restoration catalogs but I have not found hubs in any of the dozen
or so catalogs I have. I think I am going to go to the local salvage
yard Saturday morning and remove a couple from one of the '60s trucks
I find there. That is the best I can offer.
 
Okay, here is what I have found. I had the local Chevy dealer do a
search. There is a dealership in Michigan that shows they have one
in stock. Don't know if it is NOS or used. Call Look and Sons, Inc.,
East Tawas, Mi. 989-362-3454. If that doesn't pan out, I picked up
two for my truck and now have the one original as a spare. I will
part with it if you are interested. Let me know. The people I talked
to said the hub is the same from '62 to '70 for 1/2 tons. You should
confirm this.

Thought I found a hub locally here but it turned out to be a 60, not a 62. Anyway, no luck at the other dealer either. You mentioned that you now had a spare, would be interested in it if you still want to part with it. I thought I had it made with the local guy, he was only asking $30 too! Please get back to me ASAP.

Hello, You said you found a '60 hub for $30? I could be mistaken, but I believe it should be the same as the'62. Chevy used the same torsion bar frontend from 1960 to 1962 on its 1/2 ton trucks. They redesigned the chassis and suspension in 1963 and used this setup up through 1970, after which trucks came with disk brakes. That '60 hub might warrant another look. Best of luck!

1970 installing disk brakes

Hey can anyone here send me like a link or something online showing me how to Install disk brakes to my 1970 c10? that would be much appreciated. Or even a link from like a YouTube video!:)
 
'67 ~ '70 Disc Brake Upgrade

OOPS ! wrong forum .

Anyway , you're in luck : just go find a dead '72 and grab the complete spindles and A-Frames , you'll need to change the (probably worn out) upper ball joints as they're different but then it's a true bolt up upgrade .

Make sure to get the complete setup with the same # of studs ! 5 or 6 .

I simply added a stock power brake booster and Lo ! it now stops like mad .

Obviously if I race it , the drum brakes will fade but for normal driving and zooming up and down the canyons & mountains it's terrific ! I was going to upgrade to the 2-1/2" Suburban front drum brakes but everything seems fine now .
