New Paint for the '61!

No, I don't have pics yet because I just took the truck to the body shop Tuesday. It'll be painted all black, including the interior of the cab. I delivered all new chrome with the truck so it ought to look pretty good when I get it back. The side molding will be gone and my great big mirrors will be exchanged for the OEM style round mirrors.

I'm getting it painted at a South Carolina State Prison. My friend and neighbor works there as a corrections officer and he had their shop paint his truck. It came out great, and since you don't have to pay for labor, he got what looks like a $3500 - $4000 paint job for $600. Mine should be about $650 since I'm getting the inside of the cab and the underside of the hood painted too. The only problem... they move slow. It'll probably be 6 to 8 weeks before I drive the truck again. I'll post some pics when I do get it back.

HookedUpGTP- I wish I could find a paint deal like that. I pretty much do all my own. BUT my garage is attached and my wife has a fit! I spend way to much time at work and not enough time in the garage. I'm way behind on my build. I have had the hood, steps, tailgate, and grill surround sitting here for nearly 2 years waiting for minor body work and paint. I took them to the shop 10 weeks ago. I still don't have them back. I called last week. He promised they would be done next week. Sure! So it sounds like 6 to 8 weeks for a complete paint job isn't bad.
Chevytrucknut61 - I hope my paint looks that good in 20 yr.
