Hi everyone I am new to the forum and new to the restoration game also... I have recently bought a 1966 Chevy Stepside Pickup..... 3 on the tree.... only 20,700 original miles..... this baby is a beaut... Not much needs restoring on her except of course the bed.... and she needs alot of TLC... needs a good paint job.... but other than that she is running and i have replaced the bulbs inside the dash and the cigarette lighter ...I have put a coat of primer on her to keep her as she is until i can get her painted but that is of course the last thing on my to do list... Everything is original.... straight 6 250 ci engine dirty but still working properly....She has some surface rust but no cancer spots... thank goodness... there are a couple of small spots that will need bondo or sheet metal that is in the front of the doors on the front quater panels.. down by the tires.... I need a steering wheel if any one knows where i might be able to find one that would be great.. she has a Chevy 2 steering wheel right now and I want to keep her as original as at all possible ... So I am here and I am open for suggestions please feel free.... Thanks just let me know if you have any ideas or anything that I might be able to use..... Studmuffin66

congrats on your new project. I'm new to this forum too. It's a very useful place to come to for information and comraderie pertaining to these trucks. Unfortunately, it seems traffic is kind of slow compared to other forums ( everyone must be busy working on their rigs!). You should have no problem finding a steering wheel, as I found one a few weeks ago off a 61 in the junk yard. It's in good shape, only requiring a small amount of epoxy to fill in some cracks near the hub. I don't have the rim or other parts though. Looks like the one I had on my 65 Corvair, but I don't know for sure if they are the same.

Congratulations on your recent purchase. I currently have a '66, C-10, LWB Fleetside, a '66, K-10, LWB, Fleetside and a '66, C-20, LWB, Fleetside parts truck. I am 95% done with a frame-off restoration on my C-10 and the K-10 has in interior out of it so I can replace the floor pans and kick panels, followed by new soundproofing, wiring harness and factory automatic steering column. My first vehicle was a '66 I bought for $500.00 when I was 16.

I have several factory steering wheels and horn caps, as well as the horn assembly. Let me know if I can help you out. You may also check on eBay. I buy and sell a lot of parts for '60-'66 Chevy trucks on eBay and have had good luck doing so.
