Not sure about motor size; I might be wrong but, most guys that I have talked with said that they mostly came with a 283; though the guys on herecould tell you more. Good luck with the truck!!

I'm pretty sure that 327 was not an option that year. Unless the motor has been changed it is probably a 283. It looks like a 3/4 ton to me. Is it 4X4 or is that a PTO in the cab?

Motor

Hi all, no pto in the truck, now i have to find a 283. I want to restore this truck all stock, i will send photos as i build it.

Thanks.

Are you sure its a '64? It's got '66 Emblems on it. '64 would have had an I-6 or a 283, '66 was the first year for the 327.

Also, since the emblems say 10, its not a 3/4 ton.... or it is and they pulled the 20 emblems off. I would say its probably a heavy-half.

NICE find for $100 though!

There's a good possibilty, based on the color of the front clip, that the front clip and emblems came off of another truck.

If it still has the VIN number inside the drivers door you should be able to break it down as to what you have.

go to www.oldchevytruck.com and look for American Classic Truck Parts and click on it and put your vin #s the vin box and it tells your year moldel, plant that it was made in and what City it was built in lots good information on this site!:)
