Yes, I would defently get rid of that cartridge style oil filter. The housing is prone to leak around where the center bolt goes through it and they can be such a pain to change sometimes. Not soo bad to get them off, but putting them back on is what can be difficult. The filters are getting harder to find as well and when you do find them it seems that they are always soo much higher as well. I would check with Mr. Gasket and if you have a NAPA parts store in town, I would check with them as well. NAPA seems to have a better availablity to hard to find parts for our era of pickups over the others. That has been my find through the years. I don't think you will have a problem finding one for your pickup. They are out there, just finding a distributor that can get you one will be the hardest part, and even that is not that hard. Just out of curiousity, it is a 6 or a 8 cylinder engine?
Good luck with the restoration...
