I changed out the oil canister at the pan with the screw on style. Now I wounder about the other external canister . Questions \ What are the pros and cons , can I just cap them off ( two lines /in & out ) some how. Will the engine suffer with out? Is there a suitable replacement that can be more stealth?

thanks, this web site has been a real help!

That appears to be an old Frantz toilet paper oil filter.

If you don't like it you can just disconnect everything and remove it and let the factory filter work as designed. Here’s a link to some additional details:

Toilet paper filters were somewhat popular in the 1960’s. I had one of the Stilko versions back in the early 70’s, although I have no recollection of what became of it.

Dismantle Question.

On this filter, hose to the oil pan and top of the water pump arera.

Do I unscrew these brass fittings and use a bolt with teflon tape to plug it up.
How would you approach the capping off of this old filter.
I think it leaks as well since the lines are wet with oil.

thanks , I cant afford to make a mistake, so I ask about this process of removal.
