[updated:LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-02 AT 05:06 PM (CST)]thanks for your reply. The 64 PU is a 6 cyl, 230 cid and has been a family member for 4 generations with 53 k original miles. I need to know 1; color of block 2; color of breather (air intake} 3;valve cover 4; any other distinct colors for originality. I am not a pro at restoration but in last two car shows the 64 has been trophied with the remarks -- items to be original --- engine colors. As of this moment, orange is the block and chevy blue on the other parts. :+

Cowboy, thank you very much for your response. Please note the description I mailed to Valentine.

My '64 has some of the blue left on the block. I saw a restored '64
at a classic car place with a six. It was all blue except the rocker
cover and the air filter assembly. They were black. I have the '63
and '64 Chevy shop manuals. They do not have a reference to color for
the 230. The 283 was gray. The 327 was green. I think sort of an
olive drab, only a little lighter. The 348 and the 409 were both
gray that year. There is NO reference to any Chevy orange anything
for this year. Hope this will help.

On most of the 6 bangers I saw from this period, the majority were blue, except for the ones that people had painted orange. The way I always thought it was, is the 6 bangers were blue, and the v8's were orange, but we have a 78 with a 305 in the shop and it's blue. The breather would be black, the valve covers would be the same color as the block. I don't recall any other destinct parts that were different colors.
