Will an overdrive unit from a 1964 chevy p/u fit in a 1959 Apache?

GMCs (my speciality) didn't use the BW overdrive, so I'm afraid I don't hane any info about them.

A schematic would be for the electrical hook up if i'm not mistaken, so if I were to use a manual control for the O.D. I should be in the clear.(?) My other concern is whether the shift linkage from the colum shifter will hook up or will I need to retro fit

coilover seems to have set me at ease with his response in 47-55. Any other thoughts would be greatly apprieciated

if its a 3 speed it will work fine.you will have to adjust the linkage a little but it should be fine.

Looking for More Top end

whant more top end out of 1948 1/2 ton.if i step up the rearend my 3 speed is to high in first gear.could i use t5 trans 5 speed and still use my torquetub rearend.or could i use a newer gm 1/2 ton drivetrain use whith adapter kit from classicparts.

there is an quit easy layout of the electrical wiring of the overdrive
I just made a on/off on the relay with an indicatorlight on the dash and take my foot from the gaspedal to let it slide in to overdrive.
Only thing is you cannot put it in reverse when the light/overdrive is on.
normaly that is taken care of by the govenor that takes in/out at around 28mph
so if you want to drive in overdrive without the hassle just put some spark on the relay take your foot from the gas and there she goes.
You will have to get some "feel"to it but I can tell you it's great to drive
you will do 62mph at 2000rpm on 225/75/15 tires with a 3.90-1 gear ratio in overdrive.
That will save you some fuel and you will keep on speaking terms(noise) with your wife along the way
