Here's a couple shots of Midnight Rose as we worked our way home. At Hoover dam Tuesday night, then drove to Cedar City Utah to over-night. Drove from there all the way back to central Montana yesterday, 825 miles give or take, taking a bit of a detour to catch a bit of Yellowstone on the way...

VERY cool pics,spika. I remember stopping off to take a few pics there one August. It was so damned hot I took two pics and hopped back into the AC. LOL Is the new bridge open yet? Been a few years since I was out that way.

Yea, its open now. We had to double back after viewing it all from underneath on the dam and drive across it. Unfortunately, they built the concrete sidewalls so tall you can't see anything over the edge from on top. I tried to get Carol to stand on the top of the cab as we drove across and take pictures, but she got all cranky and wouldn't do it. Women.
 
When are you coming this way for Yellowstone? If it is this Saturday there is a car show starting at 4pm in Rigby, between Idaho Falls and Rexburg on HWY 20.

Nuts...just passed through there Wednesday afternoon...took the road from Idaho Falls through Rexburg up to West, then made the loop through the upper park and out at Gardner. Would have liked to swing by and seen your herd of chevys!

Seein's how I've missed more than a week here at work, I'm afraid I'm stuck in the office this weekend. We're having a gathering of our local club on the 16th here in Lewistown, then moving on to Stanford for the afternoon and evening to show at the CM Russell Stampede.
 
that is just a beautiful truck!!! Nice pics. I bet you had a blast!
 
Do you live in Lewistown? My1950 Chevy was sold new in Lewistown then moved down here in the early 60's. I have always wanted to go up there and see if the dealership is still around.

Yep, live just west of Lewistown. If it was a Chevy, chances are it would have been sold by Cooley Chevrolet...I'm pretty sure they were the dealer here in the early 50's. My GMC was sold by Dowen Motors...still has the dealer emblems on the hood. Dowen later became Dean Newton Olds, and is now Sparks Auto, but Cooley closed its doors in the 80's. You otta take a road trip over here...its not that far from you!

Hi Charles....yea, I think we got the cooling issue solved. Just drove it east as far as Madison Wisconsin, and the engine temp was steady as a rock the whole way. Not without our share of challenges on the trip, though...hit a deer the first day between Winnett and Jordon, taking out a headlight and bunging up the light ring, but surprisingly not denting anything else. Then ended up with the ignition not firing well...think it was probably a bit of moisture in the coil, but I put on a new dist cap, rotor, and coil. Then a small hole in a plastic line made me lose pressure in the right front air bag...had to jack it up, pull the wheel, and put a splice in the line (while wearing wedding dress clothes), then for some reason the alternator decided that was a good time to go out. It appears that something had damaged the fan on its pulley, causing that to pretty much disintegrate, and most likely let the alternator overheat. Another parking lot repair was in order, pulling the AC compressor off to get to the alternator, and all done with pretty minimal tools. I guess that's all part of what we enjoy about this hobby...

Left Madison Tuesday morning, got to Sturgis SD at about 9:30 that night, and just had to check out that scene during bike week. Finally forced myself to leave there at 11:30 PM, and pulled into the shop here at Lewistown at 6:30 AM, plenty of time to spare before my 9:00 meeting...a 1230 mile day. Yep, my butt is still dragging, but thankfully no more mechanical problems on the return trip...
 
Sounds like you enjoyed the trip and the ride. It is amazing how many items canbe changed on the rode with out all the tools at the garage, Thanks for the photos and the play by play fo the ride. It kind of reminded me of some of my adventures, Fun.

I love the last picture! My wheels have been turning about the grille options and this picture really helps! :cool:
 
Ya know, I did a lot of what-iffing on that too. Thought about doing the outer grill section in silver and the center in rose, but I think that would call too much attention to the outer part, and make the grill appear too large. This way just seemed to blend it all together fairly well. Everybody will have their own opinion tho, and the uniqueness of each one is what makes it kind of fun-
 
The first truck below has a nice look to it and the grille just kind of flows while on the second truck the grille makes a statement. if it had all been red with the chrome canines it may have changed the look some.

Had to pull this one back up. I might have some more time to study the pictures and I'm just being selfish wanting this front and center...
