Quality Headers

Hi,
I have a '74 Chev ShortBox C10 and I am looking into splitting the exhaust, but first I want to put headers on it. I have talked to friends and they tell me not to put headers on because they are a pain to keep maintained. I have seen that they make them with oversized flanges on them. I just wanted to hear from you guys on what kind of headers you have had luck with and others that you wouldn't recommend. If you could, that would help me out a lot.

I had Doug thorley Tri-Y headers on my '72.
They have a very thick flange that won't warp. Use a metal gasket with the rings that have some "crush' to them. or, use the hi-temp RTV that they recommend.

Don't try using solid fiber or asbestos gaskets. Since the gasket won't deflect afer it hardens, the only thing to keep the bolts tight is the stretch of the bolt. Heat kills that quickly, as it does to lock washers.
