What do you (anyone) use on the radiator hoses/heater hoses/window rubber to protect them and slick them up?

Guys on the Jeep blog like plain old Mineral Oil, soaks in and conditions....a bit schmeary on the glass though. But...Zig!! .........its cheap.

If you are ever going to do any painting in your garage you don't want silicone around. A couple of drops will cause fisheyes in the new paint from what I hear----

I used good ole soap and water in a spray bottle on mine. That is also all we used to install tractor trailer windsheilds when I worked at Kenworth.

I'm sure Even can explain the why's & hows , I use scalding hot water and soap on a rag to wash down anything that has silicone on it ~ silicone is terrific stuff to lubericate but , as mentioned it'll still be there in your old paint waiting to ruin a new job , your old standby Tack Rag , won't remove it .

On glass installation , always put the rubber on the glass first , then insert the metal bright trim if any , then apply silicone to the installation string ~ if you get silicone on the rubber before you put it on the glass , it'll keep popping off as you're trying to set the assembly in the body ~ guess how I learned this basic boo-boo ? .

Actually, I'm not at the window install point yet. I was just wondering what you used to keep the radiator/heater hoses looking good and clean, as well as the window and door rubber.
