Rear end choice for 1965 Chevy

I am interested in changing the broken rearend in my 1965 Chevy c-10. I want 5 bolt axles, and if possible something with rear disc brakes. A friend told me that the 1987-88 Iroc Z Camaros had such a setup and may be altered to fit under my 65. I would like to put in an M-21 4-speed powered by a slightly modified 350 or 327 engine, so I would like a rearend with performance in mind. This leads me to a couple of questions:

What is the width needed and is this rearend the proper width?

Is there a better choice which will accomplish the same thing?

Try a 71-72 C10 Rear End. Look for one with disk brakes already.
If no luck in finding one with disk brakes, check Master Power Brakes for disk conversion for those rear ends.

The 71-72 will go right in with no fabrication needed. Bolt up, bleed brakes, an go. Consider staying with drums in the rear also. Will make your life easier and if you use disks up front, will give good stopping. Do you really need that kind of stopping power?

The 1971-72 was one of my first choices, but I thought I might be able to reduce the cost of putting on a conversion kit if I found a rearend with disc brakes already installed, plus the added bonus of a limited slip differential. You may be right, I have disc brakes on the front, so maybe I really don't need them on the rear. It really would reduce cost and headaches staying with the drum brakes. Thanks for your reply!
