Paul, Must not be much money in fixing buck toofs anymore. AS you can see the ower of the G below finally gave up on trying to get the fenders up passed the grille.
Brand 'F' Big Blocks These are pretty good for boung the worst brand of trucks & cars evermade.... The City bought my old now retired boss an Econoline crew van with a 460 in it , he was always bragging about how fast he used to drive and was having me chauffer him 'round so I let it out just s little bit , power slid 'round some traffic & onto the North Hollywood Freeway then passed everything else on the road right quick........ he seemed surprised but not unhappy ~ he commeted ' I didn't know it'd go that fast....' . Our Pick-A-Part scrapyards are FULL of big blocks right now , $300 fan to clutch out the gate including taxes and core charges.... come get 'em ~ NO ONE wants Chevy 454's anymore . I have a buddy who bought a buncha these old F trucks , late 70's I imagine , all are V-8's & well equipped , I'm sure he'd sell you some really affordably .
I'm working on a G in the shop right now. It may become a catering truck, like a mobile roadhouse theme. I'll try to get pictures tommorrow.
The Ford...just got home. 2 stops to whack the carburetor with a crecent wrench to dislodge the float, other than that, pretty smooth. This may be an origional 47k mile truck...... And the GMC in the shop.....
I feel better Now that I see the G. What a straight looking truck! Some nice details on it. The mirrors on the outside, the lettering on the tailgate, the squirrel setting straight upright... Already has a V8? Can't wait to see what becomes of it!
Has a 250 I6. Turbo 350 trans. A mystery GM IFS, mystery GM rear axle. Looks like someone cannibalized a GM car and used EVERYTHING they could. Guages in dash, steering column, wiring harness, front and rear ends. LOTS of backyard engineering.
