    I have a 350 in running condition but ready for a overhaul. And a 400 that has sat for about 15years in the garage, and was "starting to smoke and leak a little" says the previous owner (Father).
    I'm considering rebulding one, so some questions I have are;
    Not bored or stroked, which would you prefer 350 or 400?
    What grit cylinder hone should I use? 60, 120, 180, 240 etc?
    Lifter valley oil baffles, opinions?
    Engine oil cooler?
    I have an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, should I drill/tap for a rear coolant cross over?
    Phenolic or aluminum carb spacer?
    Block/heads? Orange? Flat black?
    That's all the questions I can think up right now.
    Any other ideas?

    Most likely I'll port and polish which ever I decide to use.
    I believe I'll use the 400, rebuild with new gaskets, rings and bearings. With a lifter valley baffle, oil cooler and phenolic spacer. And when apart I will add the rear coolant cross over.
    I read a little mentioning for iron rings to use 240 grit.
    I've also consider a fuel cooler, not sure what style yet. I have 50' of stainless steel 3/8" tubing, so maybe a coil in a bucket.

    Any other ideas for a budget build?
