Side pipes on my 66c10 ??

My 66 is not lowered and sits pretty high...maybe because of the 89 Suburban front and rear end. The bottom of the door sills are 13" above the ground. Lakes pipes were popular when I was young and I had a couple rods that sported them. I'm thinking some 48" outside pipes would look cool on the Rat (if they can be found). I'd appreciate some opinions

Opinions....

I've never been a fan of lakes pipes, diameter of the pipes are to small. I do like side pipes though. I had 4 into 1, 4" diameter side pipes on my Nova in high school and I have thought about putting them on my '65 C10 too.

The key, IMO, is to make them the full length of the cab and front bed portion. Make them too short and they look dorky.

You are right Lakeroadster...the lakes pipes are too small. I do like the side pipes though and the photos clearly show that longer is better. Thanks a lot...I will rethink the idea.

Fool around with it and follow what _you_ think is best .

Adding a crossover will reduce the blatting sounds and noise tickets....

When I was young , cab roof tall exhaust stacks were the thing as Country / Farm Work Rigs would crush side pipes quickly .

If my 66 was a stepside I'd be real tempted to do the cab high stacks. I think they are cool. If I do side pipes they will probably not be hooked up...I like the looks, but not the burned lower legs.
