Six Lug Disc

Well I finally got my kit for upgrading from drum to disc after gettin the rotor and caliper installed my wheels don't fit they are oem 6 lug 15x8 wheels and they hit the caliper when i try to mount them I'm wondering if anyone knows if a wheel from a 70-72 that came with disc would fit it's not a bolt pattern problem or center hub problem I guess it's a back spaceing issue thanks Tony The pic is the wheel I'm useing and I don't want to change

I used old school chrome reverse 15" rims and they "just" fit. After a few panic stops I realized that more air flow was needed across the rotors to prevent fade.

I'd recommend ralley style wheels with slots that allow air to escape from behind the wheels. Or another "open" style billet rim..

Rims for a 71-later 4X4 will fit with your disc brakes. The design of the rim was changed to clear the rotor when the switch to disc brakes was made. Only 4X4s will have the 6 bolt lug pattern.

yea, its prob. gonna be alot cheaper to get new wheels than new spindles/rotors...ive changed mine to 5 lug w/15x8wheel and no probs. sorry for the delima sixtytwo....

62 i sent you a private message, you, like myself, want to keep the old school steel wheel. the problem your having is the shape of the rim, steel wheels dont fit big calipers at all. i sent you a pm with a link to wheel vintiques, they make wheels to your specifications and powder coat them to the color you want. i had mine made and powder coated for about $400-$450 if i remember right. i hope this helps. your beauty ring and hub cap while fit your new wheel.

heres a pic of the new wheel with the new big calipers behind them, lots of air flow with this wheel.

Thanks 66Kustom the guys at Stockton Wheel say they can take my original wheel and remove the face and weld it to a disc compatible wheel. He says youll never notice the difference pretty cool I thought, $125 a wheel sand blasted and ready for paint or powder coat

no problem, i considered doing the cut and weld swap also but the local company that did that moved to california, so i would have had to ship my wheels out of state and i figured the cost for me to do all that was more then to buy the custom made wheels and have them powder coated there and then shipped to me. otherwise i probably would have done the cut and weld swap too. that same shop that used to be local also used to make custom steel wheels to your specs for $35 a wheel...... i miss those days!!!!

It is all going to depend on the rotor size. Some kits have 13" rotors which require 17" wheels for example.
