I'm an ex-motocross rider myself and I used to live on the second floor apartment. I had no garage and wasn't about to leave the bike in the back of the truck. I would unload it everytime I rode and ride it straight up the steps to the second floor and into my living room where the bike stayed. Those were my wild and crazy days though. But I'd probably still have done the same theing.

    bikes and stairs

What is it with boys and motorbikes (and stairs) i used to work at wembley stadium some 15 or so years ago, in my workshop on site and reached into my tool chest to grab a socket and someone had left one of my one sided razor blades sitting upright in the chest, cut halfway through the vein and tendon in my wrist, there was a small surgery on site with one doc and a nurse so i jumped on the quad bike we had for moving equipment around and flew round the walkway and up the two big flights of stairs to the nearest tunstyle to the docs, ran in covered in blood where it had sprayed all over me whilst riding the bike, ended up in a main hospital having surgery, anyway got back to work couple of days later to do some paperwork and was called in to head office to be sacked! caught me on camera riding like a lunatic up the stairs, took a very stern letter from the surgeon to get my job back and to explain that if i had done as they advised and RUN halfway round the stadium and up 30 odd steps i would'nt be here today! had some fun on that ol quad bike i can tell you, had one of michael jacksons guitarists (female) on the back once taking her round the stadium for an impromtu tour! enough waffling sorry

    COE's

So it was 1979 or so and Greggors and I were out chansing vintage VW parts one fine morning , I sped a 1948 Dodge COE with a 30' bed on it (!) and ambled over to take a look , as it turned out , this unrestored truck ran *perfectly* and had been taken out of delivery service because :

    A. the bed wood was really bad abd

    B. it was simply too old and no one in the company wanted to be embarrased by driving it.....

The man told me I could drive it away , flathead 6 banger and all for the large sum of...........................................

    $400.00

At that time I was only making $350.00 / week so it was kinda pricy....

I believe it was scrapped after seveal years of fruitless attempts to sell it :(

Oh well , can't save 'em all .

    Sorry , No Can Do

    The deal is :

I grew up poor but I knew how cool all the old cars & etc. were way back when . no one ever listened to me though , it was all ' just junk ' back then .

I was _given_ a 1939 Dodge sedan once , it had a freshly rebuilt engine but the two kids who'd taken the engine out , didn't know how to re-install it then thier father decided to move and what better way to dispose of " junk " than to say it's not allowed at the new place.... :(

I could go on for _HOURS_ with stories like this , once I saw an oldie just sitting , I'd go back to ' visit ' it until that fateful day when the wrecker's tow truck dragged it off , never to be seen alive again .
