sorting out what i have...

so i just bought a 1961 apache 10.
previous owner passed away before i bought the truck. Lots has been done to the vehicle so i am trying to sort out what i have. This is my first time messing with cars so i am new to everything involved. Issue now is fuel guage. It always reads full. I have done a lot of reading from other posts and this is what i can tell you all.
Truck is now on 12volt. New behind the seat tank and sending unit have been installed. when i put a meter on the sending unit it reads 6.1 A calatog for LMC truck was in the vehicle i assume he bought most of his items from them as the gas tank and cd changer are the ones from the book. They say they sell a 30ohm sending unit. i assume this is my problem but any help on what i should do now would be greatly appreciated.
any other tips on what to look for so i will have less dificulty in the future would also be great. Thanks for your time.

Thats the right sending unit, Something in the wiring may not be right. You might have an open circuit, or check the ground wire coming from the sending unit to the back of cab wall.

problem solved... broken wire in gas tank...have to order some new parts should be all set.
