Speedo Cable for Overdrive Tranny

Just wanted to make a shout out and say thanks for all the help. As some of you may have read earlier. I just bought a new old truck '59 big window fleetside 32.

Today was a landmark day. After struggling to get the headlight wiring straight (the truck has been rewired once so factory diagrams don't work), I finally took it into the shop. An hour later I found out the the previous owner had the headlight switch totally mis-wired. It is all fixed and I took my first night ride in the truck. It was fabulous.

This week I got a whole box of parts and I was able to reinstall the gas tank that I had my local radiator shop fix. What a difference it makes to not drive with gas fumes.

I have also installed 3 seatbelts that will allow me to take my toddler for rides with me.

Next on my list is getting the cable installed for my borg warner auxilary overdrive as well as installing the referbished speedometer and new cable that I purchased this week.

Does anyone know if the speedo cable is longer on a setup like mine with the auxilary overdrive?

Go to our hosts online catalog and see if they list seperate cables for the regular 3sp and the 3sp OD trans. I'm almost certain they are the same.

OD Cable

The Muncie 3 speed is the same overall length as the regular tranny which is why they were interchangable. I have one on the floor and it appears the speedo cable is in the same spot on the tailpiece on both (Saginaw/Muncie).

I want to put the OD tranny in my 53' 1/2 ton. Are you staying with column shifter or going with the floor shifter?. I can't seem to find a floor shifter so I'm looking at modifying another rshifter to do the job. I'm curious if you have a floor shifter. Thanks

Flashlight, I would go with the colume shift. Always hated those floor shifters. Keep it looking original, but with a overdrive gear...cool. Chris

I found out by trial and error.

The cable from our sponsor is perfect. I bet it will work on most all trannys. the package indicated that it would work on late model trannys. I put one on my truck and it had plenty of slack.

I found a reproduction overdrive lockout cable and now I just need to get test the solinoid and the wiring. Once that is done the thing should shift into overdrive automatically.
