Hello,

I just bought a truck. The previous owner heated the coils, so it hops like a jack rabbit on the highway and when I go over bumps.

I'd like to do about a 3/5 drop on it. Would you recommend lowering coils or airbags for the rear?

The truck has a 292 inline six. Due to the weight difference between a v8 and the 292 (about 200 pounds I think), what should I do about dropping the front?

Thanks.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Aug-11-05 AT 00:36 AM (CST)]For the rear I'd recommend drop coil springs and an adjustable pan-hard bar.

For the front, since you asked about disk brakes in another thread, look at a quality disk brake kit that includes drop spindles ( 2 1/2 inches ) with drop springs (1 inch).

Pick up quality drop shocks for all four corners and you will have a nice stance on a truck that you can drive every day and still haul moderate loads.

And finally, YES ! Get rid of those butchered springs. It's just dangerous. Drop springs are just too inexpensive to not replace them.
