Temp Gauge

I have a stock 55' P.U. with a 265v8 motor. Sometimes my temp. gauge works, sometimes it don't. I have tried a new sender,re-built the temp. gauge, New wire from the gauge to the sender and still sometimes work, sometimes don't. Checked connections, everything. Have a new thermostat in it also. At witts end. Any help or thoughts would be great.

Just a thought but try adding a ground lead from the rockerbox attaching screw to the firewall , you'll find nice webbed OEM ones in any Pick-A-Part junkyard .
