THat 4 speed Tran on the V6-305 1964

I have a 4 speed and i cant figure how to get the shifter out of the transmission, its on my 1964 gmc truck with V6 305. i need to take the shifter arm off the tranny because i need to take it to a welder for custom work, help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you got a digital camera? try posting a pic of where the shifter goes in to the tranz. I had a truck that had a dome shaped nut ,almost looked like a spindle dust cap, if I unscrewed it I could lightly tap a pin out and the shifter lifted straight up and out.
but don't try it. until you double check the type here or in a book
