progress WOW progress at last, Got the wiring done to the point where she starts using the ign key and starter button... yeah and then got the new exhaust on and the heater in all yesterday... yup yup progress Dad even got to come up n help a little bit.
With some help from my friends we were able to get the front clip on the truck on Saturday and dang it I was so excited to get it done that I forgot to take a picture. Hope to get it all bolted up this week. I am having a bit of a wiring issue on the accessories like the dome light, Heater, sometimes they work sometimes they don't. I am thinking a bad ground what you think?
Maybe Unless you changed the 6volt motor out for a 12 volt you will need to drop the voltage to 6 volt Papy
thanks will do.. Another question the turn signal flasher I got with my wiring kit only has two poles and I think I need three according to my turn signal directions can someone tell me how to do this??
Glad to hear you are making some progress, Karen! Hey, could you let me in on what reducer you use and where you mount it? Like you, auto wiring and I are foreign languages still. Hey, my radio works! Yay me~
Yeah me I got my lighter to work.. not that I'll ever use it but hey I can charge my phone in it. Still no answers on the flasher. My turn signals need 3 prong flasher not two prong how do I install that?
Karen: The 3 prong flasher is just like the 2 prong flasher, with the extra connector used to light an indicator on the dash or handle to remind you to turn it off. You can use a 2 prong in place of the 3 prong if you don't care about the in the cab indicator. I (being an old guy without self-canceling turn signals) wired my indicator connection to a general-purpose 6-28volt beeper I got at Radio Shack years ago. Keeps me from driving miles down the road with my turn signals on. Here is an example schematic using 3 prong flashers:
Thanks Bill for the diagram.. I like your idea of the beeper and the two prong flasher. Wiring the same??
Using the diagram above, I connected the + terminal of the beeper to the X terminal of the flasher and the - terminal of the beeper to the L terminal of the flasher. The beeper was pretty loud (ask Ken), so eventually I wrapped it in paper towels and put it into a zip-lock bag. I can't find the one I used (probably bought it 20+ years ago), but this one would work: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102818#showFullReviews
more progress Front clip all bolted up and I am so excited... Thanks to some good ole MAN power we got it on. Doors and Hood next..
Way to go, Karen! Remember, I want to know what you did for your heater as I have the same deal ahead for me. All the best with the hood and doors! (No big deal, really.)
That looks great! I'm sure there is an interesting story behind why you didn't replace the chrome rings around the gauges.
Dash Progress Yes , it's looking very good indeed . Brillo pads / Steel Wool should NEVER be used on chrome as it leaves tiny scratches you cannot see that force it to corrode worse and faster.... Use chrome polish if you want shiny chrome .
