timing prob, i think, please help

ok guys im bout ready to burn my old truck, its pissin me off more and more every day. i just cant get it runnin right. i can adjust the timing to where it will start good and it will idle and rev to the moon with no probs at all but when i drive it she starts poppin and shit and just falls on her face but then i can reset the timing to where she will run great but it will barely start then. any ideas?

p.s. its a 350 with electronic ignition if that helps, got rid of the points distributor

did you just rebuild the 350? if so it may just be tight.

no its been runnin for about a year now, it ran real good for a long time, i put a new intake and carb on it about 3 months ago and then it started doin all this about 2 weeks ago and its driving me crazy

is it turning over free if so the carb may be to lean. if its tight you may look at your timing gears and chain. they mite be bad and jumped timing.

Check the plug gap and see if you can identify where the HEI came out of.

well the good news is that i dont have the comp controlled HEI, ive got an old vacuum advance distributor, i guess i may be able to just buy a hotter coil and possibly fix the prob but i guess i wont know til i try it huh?

im sorry bud, i wasnt thinkin lol, well you hit it right on the head, i put a new timing set in it. went with a double roller this time and it fixed her right up
