If you are going the 700-R4 route, I would not bolt in a used transmission especially behind a 454. Buy your transmission from an aftermarket vendor like www.Phoenixtrans.com or others who build these transmissions to your specifications. That way you will get one will will hold up under the torque of a 454 and it will include a shift kit, higher stall converter, and converter lock up wiring.
