    vacume

I made the keen observation that if you pump the arms on the side of the thing that is has a fairly good vacume, kinda small sort of intake, but she don't vacume much anyway (i'm safe, she don't read these). anyway, got two votes for the OJ tray in the fridge, the wife already voted when she saw me take the pic, to quote her, her vote went something like this "ARE YOU CRAZY, GET THAT NASTY THING OUT OF MY REFRIGERATOR:mad: " close quote.

She just don't recognize a work of art when she see's it. o-well, I might just have to go with the original suggestion, cleaned, coated and framed.

BTW - the electric is on its way, your happy, the Boops happy, {the wife don't know the money has been spent:eek: } and i'm 150$ broker, BUT, the Boops gone all electric

NEVER DID HEAR FROM NATE, ya think he's playin it safe or skipped the country in his beamer.

    Later... TB'sD

Hi, first time to post here. Nice thing about the 54-551st is that they offered an electric wiper motor as an option. Have one in my 54. I've found mine on ebay though rarly do you see them. Electric is the only way to go, for a few hundred bucks good insurance. Chris

('cept Nate... ya gotta watch that one...) And PLEASE watch out using the "restored" word... They say he once shot a feller just 'cause he was reachin' for the "R" key.

    Option #3

The only thing that anything vacuum actuated is good for is a paper weight. I wouldn't even want it in the garage cluttering up the place. Here I am telling you not to go vacuum but I'm not putting wipers on my truck at all. I guess I'm hoping to not get caught in the rain much.

Jim Carter had a used original electric motor for 54 not all that long ago. I am probably shooting myself in the foot giving that lead but I still like the Vac. I never had any problem with it.

    Vac is not bad!

Hey Greg, don't get me wrong here! Vacuum wipers are not bad. They are not the most reliable thing you can put on a truck. If i had a daily driver, i'd go with a 12 volt system, with alternator, electric wipers, turn signals, dual taillights, s-10 clip, the works. I'm rebuilding my 50 as close to original as possible, using nothing but NOS parts, as my dad would have done it. It will be driven on 72 degree, 80% humidity days here in Houston. But my next project will be a tricked out, bada$$ mofo with everything possible to make it safe and driveable! Personally, i love vac wipers, but then, i'm into pain too!

Good choice on the electric swisher. I like the idea of the vacuum going to be a rump messager, that is awesome. Now all you need is some small electronics fans and put in the seat and then it will be air conditioned as well.:D

    Here's the Deal!

I'm coming to your neck of the woods in May! I take you and your dad to eat at Patti's. Then, you guys tour the 40 acres with my vintage junk and we'll discuss where to go from there! You'd be suprised what 52 years of a "hot rodder" can come up with! Shaving a door and moon caps ain't nothing new! "I've got the money, honey, if you've got the time". I'll even throw in a "New, in the box" Kraco sterio, under the dash, 8-track!

Sounds like a plan to me. I've been wanting one of those awesome ribeye's for a while now. I know that dad would LOVE to visit with you and look at your cars. We'd have to make the 20 mile trip from grand rivers to paducah to show our junk to ya. Let me know what date in May you're coming and I'll make sure I take a vacation day and come into town if you want to get together.

Crap- Paducah? You're bringin' a tear to my eyes now. I lived in Princeton for four years before '89... Paducah was the first art show I entered. (won best of show) But mostly, I loved LBL!!! GREAT fishing!

Zig right before I moved to Nashville I lived in benton (actually draffenville) and I could be in the water in less than 2 minutes from my house. The night we moved out we had about 10-15 deer standing in the back yard. I really do miss the place from time to time. Come on out in May and Ken, me, my dad, and you can go grab a bite to eat at Patti's then go look at each others junk cars. Boy sounds like a great time to me.:D

LBL. The greastest thing that TVA ever did. I've hair-lipped a few bass out of both of those lakes! Do you have any of your artwork on the "wall" in Paducah? What a great little town.

Nope- it was just a show, but I'll never forget it. My stuff is a little "out-there". It was a hoot at the opening. I hung back in the background and watched the people slowly go along looking at the art. They'd just get ready to keep moving by mine but then they'd stop- back up- step back- step forward- tilt their heads. I knew I'd "got them"! But LBL? I loved the place! I loved Kentucky- it was just so danged hard to make any money. 'Course it might have helped if I'd left the fishing poles alone for longer periods of time...

    No money in Paducah

Thats the reason I'm a tennesseean now. I just couldn't make a living there. I really do miss my family ALOT, but I have a much better life here. It's a great place to visit if you're an outdoorsy kind of person, (I am and Tab IS NOT) and you like to be by the lake. There are a lot of old cars there. They put on a show every year that has atleast 5-600 cars every year, plus vendors.

    Had to do it!

I'm sorry fellows, but I had to bring this post back up to the top....

When you told me I needed electric wipers, YOU DIDN'T TELL ME IT WOULD TAKE 4 HOURS:eek: to put them in.

It would not have taken that long but the tiawan company that manufactured it cant follow instructions. They put the part that the wiper arms hook to on wrong, Took me a while (1 1/2 hrs) to figure out what was wrong.

Both arms were hitting everything under the dash I think. But I got er dun and she works beautifully and quite too.

Glad you talked me into electric, still don't like that cheeeeeeep plastic knob they sent that is suposed to look like the original, but it works. :)
