What's the best Adhesive

I used a product called quick roof. You can find it at Home depot or lowes. It is almost identical to dynomat. Except it is about 1/10 or less the price. Basically the same stuff. I even used it on my daily driver. Made a huge difference. This helps with vibration dampening.

I then covered that with some scrap carpet padding. Basically the same stuff that the 'juke' pads are made of. Now this stuff will absorb water. The quick roof won't. The best thing to get would be a closed cell sound absorber. This stuff can be expensive.

uses Contact Cement. Uses a spray gun to apply it, but it can be brushed on if so desired (or required) the newer low odor stuff works pretty well too. just be sure it is where you want it to be before final placement :eek:

I've had good luck with the 3M Super Trim Adhesive but less so with the general purpose adhesive. For bonding something to metal Goop (Amazing Goop) is very good but has a slow dry time. The contact cement mentioned is good but be sure to follow the directions exactly as most just smear it on, let dry to touch, and stick together--wrong. On many types you coat both surfaces, let dry, and then recoat ONE surface and press together. Really, really sticks together.

This is the only stuff I have used that doesn't release under high heat conditions. Also I have used silver foil hot water heater wrap for an insulator and it works very well and is less expensive than dynamat, they have rolls of this stuff in the hardware store....Big Tim :cool:
