So, I need to purchase and install my main fuel line. I can run ss tubing, but think I'll leave this up to 'near factory'. I am however, wondering which one. 55 2nd series, but with a 283 installed. The v8 then was a 265. The 283 that later came along was a bored out 265, and there were over heating issues. In 57, they corrected the problem by recasting the block. So, my question is, should I consider purchasing the main fuel line for a v8 in 57'? Thanks for the help.

Woody, I don't think the fuel line would matter. I can't imagine how it would contribute to overheating issues. In fact, the '55 and '57 trucks were both "Task Force" trucks, so probably both V8 versions would have the same fuel line.

What size is the stock fuel line and will it be of adequate size for your current engine? I've always bent my own lines.... eliminate the middle man.

The factory line was 5/16 for six or V8 and is plenty enough for regular use. They didn't go to a 3/8 line till the 396 big block in the late 60's. The 283 is a cool running engine with the same cylinder wall thickness as a 265. Both could be safely bored 0.125 but no more. When they got to the 4" bore blocks (302, 327, 350) then amount of overbore is limited. The 400 small block is a separate casting and very limited on overbore.
