will a 235 fit in a gmc easily?

Hey guys. I know this has been covered but i can not find the thread after much searching. I have a lead on a local 235 with transmission that looks great. The question i have is since the 235 is shorter than the mighty G engines will i have to move the front crossmember back on my 3/4 gmc to mount the 235? I have also been talking to Spika about his retired 228 which would be ideal but not sure if the cost of shipping is going to be worth it. Any thoughts? Thanks as always.

My GMC had a '55 235 in it. The front motor mount will fall short of the crossmember by a couple of inches. Whoever installed mine originally made a 1/2" plate with holes to bolt it to the front of engine, and the other side laid across the front crossmember motor mount. Makes a real neat installation. I'm pretty sure the bell housing is original, though. check for the proper location for the rear motor mounts.

I'm in the middle of putting a 60 235 in my 53 GMC Suburban and was trying to figure out the front mount, those pictures help a lot. I bolted my 235 to the original GMC bellhousing and used the Chevy clutch. As for everything in the back it lines up just as it should.
