Window seals

Hi Guys,

I'm at my wits end! I have now tried three new sets of seals for the base of the window opening and none of them fit right. The first set from ##### Truck were so thick and stiff that they wouldn't let the metal perimeter on the window go past. I got a set from Chevy Duty and they sent me two different kinds, neither of which fit the mounting holes in the doors and both of which have the same thickness problem as the ##### units.

It seems everyone must go through this. It should be simple! What is the answer?

I'm assuming you mean the "door wiskers", the fuzzies that have clips on the back that install into holes in the bottom of the window opening.
I had the same problem. The fix is to apply a thin bead of 3-M weather strip adhesive to the back before installing. Use some clamps to hold them in place while the adhesive dries. That will prevent the glass channel that rises up from pulling them off the door.
You want them to hold the glass firmly, so tight is good.

Your thread is pretty old, but do you recall if the adhesive advise on your re-pop fuzzies gained you the clearance to roll your window up? Having same problem on a 63. Doesn't look like adhesive will move the fuzzie strip any closer to the outer door skin to allow clearance on mine. Looks like the Re-pop attachment clips were mounted to high up on the metal strip, and the whole anti rattle fuzzie strip sits lower than the original horizontal rattle strip did, hitting against the sash, stopping the glass from rolling up all the way into the top channel.
