Hey Robin, Have you seen the How-to on retractable seatbelts for AD trucks on Deve's most excellent site? I like the way it was done and doesn't look like you have to screw up the paint with welding if you don't want to. Can be bolted in. A very neat job. Andy
I've had that same thing happen with the chain cover. Get a good known brand that feels sturdy and you won't have that problem. Then go down to the local car wash and spray a lot of engine degreaser and pressure wash the crap out of the bottom of your truck.
TB'sD- We are truely your support group, huh? I'd say something about your daughter driving a rig that has doors that could still pop open without wearing a seat belt, but I know I couldn't say it better than Nate did. Really- check out what Andy's talking about if you haven't already. Then, when she takes off into the night you can truely feel safe!
Timing Cover Oil Leaks I am sure you allready know this but : Install timing cover and leave the bolts _loose_ Install damper , with the timing cover loose , it'll self center as many are not correctly made , even original ones . NOW tighten the timing cover bolts and VIOLA ! no more oil leaks most of the time . if you find the holes are seriously offset , remove it all and file the holes as needed with a rat tail file and try again . Lastly , King Bearing Co. can get you a Viton seal to help even more... I don't like use nor recommend pressure washing as it damages things , I use de-greaser and a soft brush followed by cold water off the garden hose . Of course my way , a goodly bit of the grease off the truck winds up on YOU but the engine is far cleaner and is clean on the back side of the alternator and etc. too .
