The oak bed planks that came with my 66 short fleetside truck (basket case) were unused, but weathered, dry and stained. They were factory made, like you see advertised in LMC and Classic Parts catalogs. They were factory cut to size, grooved, and trimmed to fit around the inner fenders. I ASSUMED that all I had to do was finish and seal them and drill a couple dozen holes during the install. (I was told once that to assume will make an ASS of U and ME.) No one likes to admit their stupid mistakes, but I share this to help others NOT make the mistake I made.

Once most of the boards were lightly bolted in place I noticed that there was 1/8" to 1/2" difference in their lengths. And, some were not cut square! What should have been a 4 hour job turned into 6, while I removed, cut and squared several boards.

Bed Wood

Indeed that looks a very nice job .

I miss Mr. Hill's show greatly , he died in very modest circumstances .

In my humble opinion, Benny Hill was on a par with Red Skelton. Of course, Benny specialized in sexual insuniation...which was funny, but not vulgar. Whereas Red, was purely slap-stick clean humor. I miss them a lot.

Red Skelton

When I was a lad , he had a TV Show called " The Secret Life Of Harry Fife " ~

Very innocuous humor , I loved it .

To wards the end of the 1990's he painted lots of pictures of clowns and a nice lady sold them down by eh L.A. Harbor......

I too miss his humor .
