I need to draw on you fellows knowledge!!! I have a new replacement radiator for my 53 (the upper and lower inlet and outlet have not been modified). Is it necessary to have a larger upper hose inlet put into the new radiator? I know it is plenty large enough to cool the 350 engine but will the smaller size restrict the flow and cause possible overheating? I have a friend that stated that I just need to get an adapter from the larger hose to the neck... Is this true? Thanks, The BOOPS dad
radiator inlet thought I would post a picture of the inlet, don't know if no one knew the answer to my question or if it was a dumb question????? but here's the pic
Your friend is right. You can put the hose that fits the neck on first and cut it off flush with the neck opening and then put your V8 hose over it. If you slide the outer hose on until it touches the radiator tank then the inner hose is invisible. I've never had this give any trouble in 50 years of doing it. The smaller neck will still pass MUCH more water than will flow through the thermostat in it's wide open position so it's a non-factor.
What Evan said ~ the bushing is all you need and Goodyear even makes a hose that'll fit without the reducung bushing but I dunno the P/N , sorry .
inlet Thanks, I knew I came to the right source for info. Seek and ye shall find.... Never thought about the flow thru the thermo. Guess that's why some people have brains The Boops Dad
