does anyone have any comments about the 3.38 rearend ring and pinion sold by the host?thinking about replacing the original rearend gears in my 58.the truck is all original and runs great with only 31,000 miles, but;the gas milage is pretty bad with the 283.also,as i understand, the 3.38 will raise the top speed from 65-70,and enable the truck to be driven on the interstate.

As long as your not hauling or pulling heavy loads you will love those gears. Everything is quieter and that 283 will just be loafing at 65.

What is the difference between these gears and those offered by Patrick's?

Our host offers 3.38:1 gears for 55-59 Chevy truck rear ends. They do not offer gears for earlier rear ends.

Patrick's offers 3.38:1 gears for earlier (torque tube type) rear ends. I don't know if Patrick's offers gears for 55-59 rear ends.

Don't forget about tire size. That will figure into the final drive ratio too.

I think Patrick's is 3.55 instead of 3.38--- please check with him if you decide to order.
