Engine tapping sound

My engine makes a tapping sound when I am coasting downhill with my foot off the gas. The sound increases with the engine speed.
I can't seem to replicate the sound without coasting down a hill...

I was guessing that it is probably either the valves or the fuel pump, but the fuel pump was replaced about a year ago, and if I listen to the valve covers while it's idling I don't hear anything...

I have also changed the oil and that didn't fix it...

Any suggestions?...
 
3 speed manual with a 283.

If you're hinting at the clutch, I've noticed the throwout bearing also makes a lot of noise.
 
Check your transmission and motor mounts just in case...sometimes when there isn't a load on the drivetrain, you may hear odd sounds if the mounts are bad, loose, or if there are parts broken and the drivetrain settles too much to one side or the other. The reason I asked was my friend had one of the mount ears (the opposite side was cracked) that was broken off of the bell housing and when he would coast, he could hear a ticking sound as everything inside of the bellhousing was out of alignment and going bad from the drivetrain rocking moving back and forth too much.

hmm... I'll have to check that. When I first got the truck the PO had cut one of the perches off the frame and the engine was only supported on one side! Who knows how long it was driven like that or how much was damaged during that time!
