I am thinking a fully chrome or ss dash grille would look really good.
I have ss glove box door, and ss speaker grille trim.. but looks like ss speaker grilles were not ever a stock option? so thinking of purchasing or having my speaker grille chromed.
Have any of you done this? does chrome match the ss?
or does it all need to be chromed? can you even chrome ss?
know any good chroming companies.. i live in washington state

Mine has a SS speaker grill and glove box. So I'd say they were stock. It shines up nicely.

I added a piece of SS mesh behind the painted grill to add a bit of shine to it.

Go to the classified section and look for ' Mothertrucker ' AKA Joe ~ he's in Az. and will fix you right up .

I had this stainless on my '49 and hand polished it (about a 3 beer job) so it looked like chrome , only better .

I think Chevy went to the painted ones around 1951. The 47-50(?) Chevy were stainless and I think all the GMC ones were, but not positive. Joe would know for sure.

I checked around, talked to recyclers and no one has or has seen a stock SS speaker grille for these trucks.. there are chrome ones that people have had chromed.. i have some spare painted ones in my shop. will send one off to be chromed..

but if by chance someone does actually have a stock SS speaker grille.. let me know.

I bought mine on ebay, its stainless original, not re-chromed. Chrome may be too shiny and lack patina. Be patient one will turn up, it wasn't that expensive. Less then re-chrome for sure.
