I'm digging the patina on the fenders, very cool. Great shot of your dad, too.

    Keep the updates coming!

That blue is was a great color for these trucks. My Dads was that color. Keep up the good progress and before you know it the truck will be on the road.
    Thanks for sharing the photos.

Good job, the blue and black does look a lot better, than the flat white primer,
i wish mine would look like that, instead there?s thick gray primer and not much paint underneath...

Working in the sun/heat really slow?s you down, but it seems, your getting somewhere! Keep us posted, please:)

thanks everyone!! worked some more on the truck after i got done bartending. my fingers are sore from all the scrubbin but its comin along well. im lovin the blue with black and some raw spot pitina.
some places the white comes off easy and other places its on hard. using paint stripper takes it all off but i use air craft stripper in some places. did the under bed skirts and cleared them and then once the sun was behind the barn i did the some of the cab.
distributor came in today. so this sunday ill put it in and i hope she runs
    heres a pic

Hey skeeter! Noticed you are from Sierra Vista; I am too. Found this site when I stumbled on Coach's build, and decided to join. Great resources, great people. Like what you are doing with taking the paint off to reveal the patina.

I am a former Harley tech, in the middle of rebuilding my little brother's CBR (spun 3 rod bearings), then I can start on my '52 3/4 ton build. Cant wait, will be following all of you guys' builds.

I don't frequent Applebees, but I might have to pop in sometime. I take it you grew up here? I moved down here 5 years ago, but I will be staying. I now consider it home.

    Engine Failure

Me , I'd go hunt up a cheap or free 235 and pop it in , they're plentiful , you just have to go looking .

Whilst you're digging up that roaring 235 and prepping it , you'll have your hands busy cleaning and re painting that frame , it's going to look *so* nice when you're done .

    Remember : AD's have GRAY colored engines ! .

    Engine Upgrade 216 > 235

You're not paying attention here :

good running 235'sa are cheap , plentiful and EVERYWHERE in America ~ the Hor Rodders yank 'em out then still have then lying under a bench or tarp years later and are anxious to get rid of them so $150 for a complete fan to clutch good running 235 is the regular price .

Often cheaper or FREE as they just want rid of that big lump .

Go peruse the task Force pages and look in older threads , everyone who's gone to a V-8 , send them a message asking to buy the old 235 takeout .

This works ~ the few people who follow my advice here , all have cheap or FREE 235's .

Where didja think the high dollar guy who sell them for $1,000 + guaranteed get them from ? .

o0ohh im listen but so is murphys law. when you need one, there is none. im doin it now. might find one is mississippi but im not drivin acoss the county for a 150 dollar motor.
but lets say i find a free motor. i put it in and 2 weeks later i have more problems (itll happen because im bad luck, if it can happen it will) then im back to square one. besides nothings free and if it im just gonna assume its a boat anchor. sooo thats why i wanna find a 235 out of a fresh truck, not siitin under a tarp but were back to murphy and his law
but ill look on the hamb and here. ive been on craigslist

got a lead on a 235 motor and trans. guy wants 600 bucks for it. i think thats a lil too steep since the thing has been sittin for 5 years and he wants 1700 for the whole truck
    what do you think?

    Used 235

Go look at it , turn the engine by hand (me , I'd take a battery and compression tester) then tell him thank you very much and offer $150 , walk away , leave my 'phone # and expect a call in a few weeks .

Be very polite , he prolly really does think it's worth $600 , it'll take a while for reality to set in as Junkyards don't get this much when they'll run it for you to hear and warrantee it .

I assume you're not perusing the older Task Force build threads ? .

    Go back 5 years , you'll be amazed .
