Guys on the Jeep blog like plain old Mineral Oil, soaks in and conditions....a bit schmeary on the glass though. But...Zig!! .........its cheap.

This is the perenial question, what rearend? I forgot what motor you had. But if you are not hauling heavy loads and mainly want to have decent milage and Highway speeds (65MPH) then even a 4:10 is high. Newer Model trucks had 3:55's, with that you can cruise at 65MPH at a reasonable RPM. From...

I've done both...less cost and headaches, do away with closed tube, get a good open rear-end and the possibilities are endless. Put on a Saginaw 4 speed (Bolt-in) and have a drive shaft cut or made. Four speed Saginaws are cheap and findable....$200. Rear-ends..$50 and up. Those gear changes...

I put Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil in my jeeps differentials and it improves the feel and roll. I have synthetic Advance Auto gear oil in my 47 and its fine. Smooth!!
