1965 Stepside - Lost & Found

Congrats on finding and getting your 65 back! I too have a 65 shorty step side, I love these trucks. Nice to see you are keeping a truck as a truck, it's a great way to enjoy your investment and a good conversation piece when you break for a coffee.
 
Glad you're still enjoying it ~ I've logged more happy miles in trucks like these than I can remember .

Got some Buddy Bucket seat covers from Summit that are the same pattern and color as the Buddy Buckets I had in my truck back in the 80's.
 
I acquired a green center seat a little over 6 months ago. I painted it with SEM Vinyl paint.
It fits nicely between my recovered Fiero seats.
So far I only have one Buddy Bucket seat and a frame. I only need one more Bucket seat.
 
Got the garage all cleaned up and ready to start stripping her down. Minimum goal is to swap out the old Sm420 for the th350 Auto Transmission I bought a while back.

One thing I noticed over this wet winter is the areas I cleared didn't grow any mildew.
I think I'm going to try and find the lowest satin clear I can find.
 
Eventually I plan to put some advertisement on my doors.
This is crude, but kind of what I'm thinking.

if you take the time to have it hand painted , it'll look much better .

I wish I had photos of my '55 Tow Truck.....
 
No matter how much I played around with doing a fauxtina blue, I just couldn't get it to something I liked.
I have finally hit on something I think looks totally badazzz!
The railing is the look I'm shooting for.
The fender still needs to be sanded out then hit with satin clear.
 
Yep, really liking the look.
Jumped in both feet this weekend.
Mixed the flat black real thin and covered her in black.
 
I'm finding I prefer a very subtle sand through.

I tend to agree with your comments on not liking the glossy clear coat look, so I went with a satin clear.
The bed rail posted above is satin clear after its dried.
This pic below is the satin clear still wet.
 
Yeah, my wife preferred the blue.
The bright side is I'm learning some simple techniques to get the look. Also, it's just low cost enamel.
