Hello all you people who know the low-down on these old sixs. There seems to be much love for the 235. Figures, I have a 228. So I was wondering. Should I redo my 228 or go hunting for a 235? Mine runs when it's made to, and I'm sure it's only because it has to much pride not to, but is that just because it knows I'm contemplating it's demise??? I want something that'll haul my heavy 3/4 down the road on a daily basis and not complain about doing it. What do you think? 235 or reward my 228 for sticking around all these years?
Part two. Being as though I DO have a 3/4 and have to redo the front end, back end, inside , outside, I was wondering how much of the 1/2 ton suspension parts found in catalogs will actually fit on my 3/4? I took my trusty tape to the front end parts of the 54 Chevy 1/2 ton frame that I have. (On wheels) and then checked my 3/4, and just from the tale of the tape, I couldn't see any difference. Of course I had my 4 year old daughter trying to help me, so I may have been off an inch or two... Which leads me to my last question. (For tonight.
) What about... roller bearings ...on a 3/4? Just asking 'cause they make them sound so sexy in the catalogs!!! Thanks for your thoughts. Much appreciated no matter what they are.
