49 3100 truck

I found my manuals on eBay. I have done the steering column rebuild so I am sure you can. I even replaced the brass bushings even though I probably could have gotten away with just the sector shaft seal. I followed the book to a "T" and I only made one mistake. When I bolted the column back onto the box I got it upside down so I now have the horn wire coming out the bottom instead of the top.
I was going to suggest that I just take that old truck off your hands so you wouldn't have to fool with it but somebody beat me to it.

Amongst all the expertise here on this site, you will find AD owners like me as well. It took me 3 full years of spare time over 7 years ago to disassemble and build my 54.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy my truck, or how much great advice i have gleaned from the folks on this forum.

We have some fun here. We really enjoy our trucks. We want to see photos of yours. I represent the "first and only one build" amateurs on this site. I have lots of photos. And sometimes I can make Zig laugh.

Seriously, pop a couple of pictures up. Your truck looks like an awesome find for the money. Notice how many members want to help you get rid of it so quickly

depends what you call young , im 27 and im having a go !, well rodding it not restoring it , but all the same its a bottomless money pit lol

Whitebull, you have some fine metal to work with there. This site can provide much info and inspiration. As others have stated, take loads of pictures and make an album for reference.

Have fun and and take your time - you will find it much more rewarding than sitting around watching a crappy tv show for sure.

As has been said countless times before, get it running and driving first, then fix little by little until you are finished. Don't look at it as a whole truck, but several little systems. Work on one thing at a time, get it finished and move to the next. Keeping it running as much as possible will keep the interest level up, blowing it apart right off the bat makes it hard to get motivated to finish when looking at a stack of parts that might become a truck.

Thats all I got right now........hopefully when I can get out to the truck and get it in my garage, I will take more pics. I got about 100yrds out to the truck and got stuck up to my frame! Its gonna be a little while!

Wouldn't that be awesome if you stripped it down and found perfectly good chrome underneath all that paint! Too cool!:cool:
